A Ride to Remember
By Adelle Laudan

One reviewer says...
“Adelle Laudan is a very talented romance author who can make the most hardened biker romantic.”

Dinner with her student’s grandfather has fifty-year-old Desiree wondering...is there really such a thing as fate?

Excerpt:
About an hour ago she started worrying about the date. What if he drinks? Can I enjoy a meal with someone who does? She realized that over the past ten years she’d isolated herself from the drinking world. When she really sat and analyzed the situation, she’d agreed to go off with a stranger. For all she knew, he could be a serial killer.
Her laughter reverberated through her small bedroom. Now you’re being ridiculous. She was going out to dinner with the grandfather of one of her students. What harm could there be in that?  Despite her pep talk, she pressed her hand to her tummy in an effort to still the butterflies doing aerobatics in her stomach.
A thunderous roar reverberated outside her window, and she dashed over to look out the glass. The biggest, blackest motorcycle she’d ever seen pulled up to the curb. Her heart raced so fast her chest hurt. The rider hiked a long leg over the iron beast and took off his helmet.
Oh...my...God.... Her jaw dropped. The rider was Tanner, her date. She stood staring in disbelief until a knock on the front door startled her. Flustered, she left her bedroom and hurried to answer the door.
Tanner stood on her porch dressed in a black leather jacket. He wore a smirk on his face that was highly contagious, and she found herself smiling in return.
“Well, aren’t you full of surprises?” She glanced past him at the motorcycle.
“I hope you’re okay with it. I didn’t want to scare you off, so I thought I’d surprise you.”
“Mission accomplished. I am indeed surprised to say the least.”
She smoothed her recently ironed hair. So much for my hair.  “I’m guessing you want me to get on that thing with you?”
Tanner laughed. “That would be the plan.”
“I’ve never been on a motorcycle before. Do you think I can do it?” The closest she’d come to bikes or bikers was her favourite movie, Mask, with Cher and Sammy Elliot. In fact, Tanner did have a slight resemblance to the sexy biker from the movie.
“If it was my low-rider, we might have a problem. This baby is like sitting on your sofa.”
Desiree glanced at the comfortable-looking seat. It even had armrests for the passenger. “Am I dressed okay for a bike?”
He eyed the length of her. “I’ll be the envy of every biker for miles.”
